I’ve always loved herbs, I have early memories of my Grandmothers handmade lavender pouches, bunches of Mint above the doors(to keep out insects) and the smells of fresh herbs in the beautiful violet posies that my Grandmother would make for her friend’s & neighbours.
Herbs have always been a part of our family gardens, my Mother to this day has an amazing herb Garden in her tiny suburban backyard.
So when we moved here, there was NO doubt my Garden would be filled with herbs and all plants the I remember from my childhood.
I started out the back in the established Veggie patch planting herbs I knew I would use in my every day.
The Garden already had a huge Rosemary bush, so I added Oregano, Mint, Basil, Chives and then we added Parsley(although this seems to be the only thing that doesn’t like this climate LOL), over time I have added a couple of others that either we could use in cooking or help the chooks(chickens), the Compost and of course us humans.
Today I managed to get hold of Herb of Robert, this herb has great Immunity building properties and with lots of children in our home, this can be made into a tea for us adults to keep us healthy.
I also bought a Lemon Balm for tea making and a Chocolate Mint(for Fun).
Over the coming weeks I am adding more herbs mainly focusing on tea, or herbs for our health and herbs to keep our chickens happy will be planted too, I would love to hear what your favourite herbs are and what you use it for over on my Facebook page.
